The Fall 2014 Pangu Shengong Kindness and Wellness Camp
This past fall, Pangu Shengong students from all over the world got together to attend the Pangu Shengong Kindness and Wellness Camp held in Wu Kai Sha, Hong Kong, from Oct 24th to 26th. Many students took time out of their busy schedules and travelled great distances to attend this conference. In fact, there was not an empty seat in the conference auditorium which had a seating capacity of 1000.
During the event, Master Ou Wen Wei gave a fascinating lecture in which he emphasized developing kind, benevolent and positive beliefs. He also stressed the importance of pursuing first-rate self-cultivation in order to build a solid personal foundation. It can be said that following these two concepts will enable a person to achieve good health, happiness and a fulfilling life.
He talked about how to conduct one’s affairs in order to be a high level person capable of living a brilliant and outstanding life. In fact, Master Ou has taken it upon himself to not only lecture on these subjects but to actually live his life according to these principles so that he may serve as a role model to others.
Master Ou then paused the lecture so that everyone could practice a moving form together. He emphasized the need to practice Pangu Shengong with a peaceful mindset and a smile for the best results. He explained that as long as a person practices diligently they can achieve good results. Master Ou said that the Pangu students attending the lecture had already achieved good results and that it was his wish that they could achieve even better results in the future. He also said that it was important that everyone take good care of their bodies. The way to do this is to insist on living with high standards and trying our best to be calm, open-minded, humble, persistent and diligent.
Master Ou told everyone that faith and core beliefs are what our hearts and souls rely upon to give us hope and they are the foundation that morality is built upon. Faith and core beliefs are the guiding principles directing our lives as we march toward a kind and beautiful future. In order to be sure that what we do is beneficial to other human beings, to things and to the great nature, each one of us must have high level convictions and beliefs.
Master Ou said that once we have an important guiding principle or beautiful conviction that we should make great efforts to abide by it and that is exactly the process in which we cultivate ourselves. His guiding principle is to “Take kindness and benevolence as basis, take frankness and friendliness to heart. Speak with reason, treat with courtesy, act with emotion, accomplish result.” To realize this maxim, during the past few decades, he has cultivated himself by integrating with one ancient adage in Dao De Jing, “The state of vacancy should be brought to the utmost degree, and that of stillness guarded with unwavering vigor”. Master Ou has purposefully restrained himself in order to focus on and fulfill others’ interests when conducting his daily routines. Through this process he has been able to demonstrate true sincere love as well as exhibit optimal health. Additionally, he has guided thousands of Pangu students to walk on a healthy and happy path so that their hearts may be filled with kindness and universal love toward others.
Master Ou explained that self-cultivation can brighten the guiding light of a person’s life. He also indicated that a person’s self-cultivation should be displayed throughout their lives and daily routines. It is important to always maintain a calm and peaceful mindset and a warm and gentle attitude as well as continually pursue our own self-improvement. Master Ou said that he has walked this path, and he hopes that his students would demand of themselves likewise, thus following his guidance to march towards an elevated level of self-cultivation to become a kind and friendly person.
Master Ou said sincerely and earnestly: if we master the direction of our core beliefs and guiding principles then our hearts and souls will truly enter a higher level, then the power generated from our faith will be vast, and sometimes it will even exceed our expectations. When a person sincerely has lofty core beliefs and engages in noble self-cultivation, he or she will be able to influence and inspire others.
When Master Ou delivered his lecture, he sang his newly written song entitled “Cultivate the Heart”. He wrote this song with the intention of improving the health of the listeners physical bodies as well as there hearts and souls. The lyrics of this song provide a roadmap and a method to cultivating our hearts. He hopes that we can often self-examine by asking ourselves and urging ourselves in the same way as described in the lyrics of the song in order to gradually refine our heart and souls.
Many Pangu students at the conference said that when they heard Master Ou sing this new song, they were touched and felt an awakening in their hearts and souls. There are 20 questions described in the lyrics of the song guiding us to truly know ourselves, guiding us to learn to be calm and peaceful, and teaching us to broaden our hearts.
The conference also had a book club based on the The Path of Life, in which Pangu students actively expressed their ideas relating to the beliefs and self-cultivation methods mentioned in Master Ou’s lecture. The book club stimulated the Pangu Shengong students’ interests. Many of them expressed that after they return home they will reread Master Ou’s books again in a calm and peaceful manner.
The conference was concluded with a joyous party. Many Pangu Shengong students performed traditional dances on stage as well as recited poems, sang songs and played musical instruments. The most encouraging performance involved nine Pangu Shengong students who were able to write the Chinese characters of the Pangu Shengong password altogether after only just learning Ou’s calligraphy in four short classes. Remarkably, their writing was a good likeness of Master Ou’s calligraphy.
During the party, Master Ou wrote the impromptu calligraphies “Cultivate the Heart”, “Love” and “Awakening”. He also did impromptu demonstrations of reciting and chanting for the performing students, and surely they learned a lot from him.
The final wonderful performance of the party involved singing the song, “Dreamland Waltz”, which transported everyone to a free and light-hearted beautiful time and space. The performers on stage and the audience in their seats sang together harmoniously, and everybody felt so sweet and content inside.
