Master Ou’s Jan 2014 Birthday Celebration in Macau — Jason Davis

I was fortunate enough to be able to travel to Macau to attend Master Ou’s birthday concert on January 28, 2014. It turned out to be an amazing week and I would like to thank the Pangu Shengong students in Macau for their wonderful hospitality. Maggie Pan helped to organize and coordinate many details of our trip. Fernando and Ling Ling cooked delicious food and helped ensure that our group had transportation to all the events along with many other wonderful local Pangu Shengong students.

The day before Master Ou’s birthday there was an exhibit of photos outlining Master Ou’s life of spreading Pangu culture. The photos started in 1983 and went to the present. After reading the Path of Life I know that Master Ou went through many difficulties and to see the early pictures in the 80s really showed that. He was very skinny at that time and my heart felt sad. Later photos showed his construction company building very precise high quality buildings. There were photos of Master Ou writing the Path of Life and Mandy reading over it. It was particularly neat to see the early photos of some of Master Ou’s most senior students. I was able to recognize many of them and they all looked so young at that time. One photo that fascinated me was a painting that Master Ou had created that showed mountains floating in space. I couldn’t help but put my hand near that picture and it felt very expansive and mystical. Also it was interesting to see the photos of when Master Ou’s was the director of the Qigong Science Research Institute of Guangzhou University in China. One picture was of an experiment being conducted on a beaker of hydrogen peroxide. From what I understand exposing hydrogen peroxide to the open air will cause the oxygen bubbles to leave the solution and it will eventually turn into water. There was a lady with a timer testing if Master Ou could cause the oxygen bubbles to leave the solution quicker to turn it into water. The result was that Master Ou could make the process happen quicker. Finally, I remember looking at the more recent photos. Seeing them triggered many fond memories of attending advanced retreats and concerts that have been held over the years. At that moment I felt very blessed to be one of Master Ou’s students.

The next day there was a concert to celebrate Master Ou’s birthday. There were around 1000 students from all over mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, the United States, Canada, Australia and Mexico. Students from different regions of China sang and chanted Master Ou’s songs and poems. The performances where full of feeling and grace. Some of non-Chinese speaking students also did performances. Suzy Iber performed the “The Rising Sun” and sang Happy Birthday to Master Ou in Spanish. The crowd was moved by her heartfelt performance. I was lucky enough to perform a short play with Fiona, Dao, Krystal and Jessica entitled “Ambassador Yan Zi’s Mission to the State of Chu”. Everyone did a great job but for some reason I am always asked to be the bad guy in these plays. George Iber recited and chanted the poem “The Gale” with precision and refinement.

After that, Maggie Pan gave a wonderful speech about the Macau Pangu Shengong Association. Then it was time for Master Ou to take the stage. He sang a new song about the “Northern Lights”. The energy was very strong during the performance of this beautiful song. After he was done singing Master Ou talked about the secret to the ancient Chinese people’s health and longevity. He said the most important thing that they did was to practice cultivating their hearts. They sought to lead lives full of goodness and justice. They tried to act with benevolence and kindness towards one another. They conducted themselves in a calm and peaceful manner. Another key ingredient was they tried to eat good food that they cooked with pride and skill. Also they made sure to get a good night’s sleep. The last factor Master Ou mentioned was that they did a lot of qigong gathering the good energies from the universe to help maintain their bodies. As a result of these things if they ever did get sick they would recover quickly.

Next on the agenda was a presentation to the people that contributed to a new book full of Pangu Shengong testimonials that was written in Chinese. Most of these students had recovered from very serious illnesses. After that we were all privileged to have a banquet of wonderful food. During the luncheon students continued to perform. Some young students with mental disabilities, that have had wonderful results and improvements to their health from listening to Master Ou’s music, began to perform. Before starting Master Ou’s music therapy many of those children had difficulty speaking and had extremely low IQ’s. Now many of them were able to sing Master Ou’s songs and function at a higher level in their lives. Near the end of the concert Master Ou performed a poem that had been written by Conrad, one of Master Ou’s talented students. Although I did not understand what was being said I did feel very emotional when I looked at Conrad’s face as Master Ou performed the poem. At 3PM the concert ended and I felt extremely privileged to have attended this deeply heartfelt and profound event.
