A Humble and Diligent life — by Anisha Desai Fraser
This last advanced retreat really got me thinking.
I’ve been contemplating that Pangu Shengong doesn’t remove us from the reality or responsibilities of everyday life. However, I believe that it does place our feet more firmly on the ground of what we hold dear, our core beliefs and values. Though we can’t and don’t transcend our lives, we CAN transcend our habitual way of thinking, our normal reasoning.
Master Ou gave us several methods this time to achieve this goal. I can use these methods to return to my life with a renewed sense of hope, with a renewed desire to be a better person, to know my benevolent self more fully and choose to offer that part of me to others, watching it grow and grow slowly but surely in to a more beautiful expansive presence.
Through practice and reading the Path of Life, I’ve also come to see that the deepest source of my unhappiness is wanting things to be different, of not being able to accept the way they are, the way I am. Whether its an aversion to myself, others or the world, this is the war with reality within my heart. I can only begin from where I am, and I must recognize with deep honesty where exactly that is. I can only move forward once I have accepted my starting point, with humility. Diligence and humility were expanded on during this training. It makes sense. Diligence becomes our practice, making good use of every moment, using daily life to continue improving the quality of my heart. Humility is a doorway for me to experience more calm and tolerance in my daily life, and truly know and understand others and what they have to offer.
Thank you Master Ou and Pangu for such rich teachings. There are so many layers to your knowledge and love!!!!
