Pangu Shengong Gives Me a New Life – Written by Yanbing Guan on March 8th, 2015
Yanbing Guan’s Pangu Shengong (Pan Gu Mystical Qigong) testimonial discussing Liver Cancer, enlarged heart, gastritis and other conditions.
Summary:
Yanbing suffered from 9 major health problems for over 10 years. She was diagnosed as being in the final stage of liver cancer when she was 55 years old. She was devastated and depressed. Fortunately, she was able to learn Pangu Shengong within a short time of her diagnosis and practiced it whole heartedly. She had good results from day one. She completely recovered from liver cancer and other major health problems within 3 years of dedicated Pangu Shengong study and practice. And yet, just like many other wonderful healing stories, these incredible results came with some difficulties. Her healing journey required faith, consistency, hard-work, humble self-awareness, and love. For this reason, in this article, Yanbing also shares with us how she successfully handled her 2 major and 2 minor healing adjustments during that 3 year healing period. The purpose of this is to shed some light on the process of healing from a major illness and to inspire those that are struggling to find a way out of their difficult situations.
After you read her article below, please also read Master Ou’s response to her journey.
My name is Yanbing. I am 59 year old woman living in Foshan City. For years I had insomnia, and this lead to many other health problems. I suffered from gastritis, sinusitis, chronic sore throats, numerous ear infections, a frozen shoulder, arteriosclerosis, chronic neck pain due to spinal stenosis, and an enlarged heart. For these I had been medicated for more than ten years.
In 2010 I took Diazepam to address my insomnia. In February of 2011, on the first day of Chinese New Year, I experienced pain and swelling around my liver. Not wanting to worry my family during the new year celebration, I kept silent, enduring the pain. After a few days my family brought me to the hospital. I was admitted, examined and diagnosed with cirrhosis along with ascites, and was considered to be in the last stage of liver cancer. I was told I would need a liver transplant to survive.
The news was devastating and unexpected. I felt deeply depressed.
My life had been very difficult since I was young. I had never attended even a full year of school. I knew very few Chinese characters. I began working very hard at 13, carefully saving money to raise a family. For decades I endured hardships and exhaustion. Now that my living condition was finally easier I got the news I was dying. It seemed fate was playing a cruel joke!
Following the local custom of the countryside, I saw this as predestined and decided to accept it as fate. I knew the surgery wouldn’t save my life and so I would not burden my family in this way. I love them more than myself and so decided against the transplant. My husband was sympathetic. He felt I hadn’t cared enough for my own body, that I had allowed myself to become exhausted through overwork. My family’s love was a comfort. My mother’s family learned of my illness and searched for good doctors and medications, even asking others for help and advice.
In March of 2011 I had the good fortune to hear of Pangu Shengong. As soon as I learned it, I found its philosophy and practice very easy to accept. Perhaps because I had done volunteer work at a local temple, I was already familiar with the concepts of karma and kindness. This lead me to realize that my clinging to past resentments and injuries lead me to this bitter result. I felt a strong attraction to Pangu Shengong’s maxim. Those 32 Chinese characters were truly a guide for behavior and a way to live one’s life.
I received quick and excellent results from the Moving Form from day the day I learned it. When I came to learn the Moving Form, I was so weak that I had to be helped by two relatives and carried in by the arms. The 500 meters distance from the bus station to the instructor’s home seemed to take forever to walk. Yet, when I began to learn the movements of the Moving Form, I felt energy coming into my body giving me enough strength to stand, unaided, to do the form! After I finished my first Moving Form practice, I felt stronger and had the urge to do one more form immediately. As I did it, I felt incredibly strong energy come into my body. As I left the instructor, I was able to walk without any assistance!
I practiced the form intensely, each day sitting in a chair or on my bed, for 12 to 15 hours. The more pain I felt, the more I practiced. I studied Master Ou’s books and articles diligently. Being nearly illiterate, I had to listen very closely to Master Ou’s songs and chants. The lyrics helped me to understand in more detail the maxim of “Take Kindness and Benevolence and Basis; Take Frankness and Friendliness to Heart; Speak with Reason; Treat with Courtesy; Act with Emotion; Accomplish Results.” Listening to Master Ou’s songs and chants I felt he went beyond just singing, he was teaching us profound theory.
I listened to Master Ou’s songs day and night, even during mealtimes. I studied the chanting CD booklet’s lyrics, listening to the chants at the same time, learning the lines one at a time. After a week, I could recite Master Ou’s essay “Heaven, Earth and Humanity in Harmony” from memory. Within a few months, I was able to read his books. For the characters I didn’t know, I would ask my husband and son. Gradually I came to realize the best way to conduct myself and handle circumstances.
My family fully supported my efforts to learn all aspects of Pangu Shengong, encouraging me to practice the forms and listen to the CD’s as much as possible. Even my kindergarten aged grandson enjoyed listening to the healing songs and chants. Each morning I awoke at 6:30am and listened to the songs and chants. Previously my grandson would wake up crying and would have temper tantrums. After a short time of playing Master Ou’s CD’s in the morning he began his day by happily brushing his teeth, eating breakfast and cheerful leaving for school.
Three months after I learned Pangu Shengong, my son decided to learn. He often encouraged me by saying, “Mother, please don’t be too eager for quick success and instant benefit. Take time to listen to Master Ou’s songs and comprehend his teachings, work on your cultivation and accept tempering. Try not to rely solely on others but to contribute more of yourself, only in this way can you heal fully.” He often taught and encouraged me to practice Master Ou’s music therapy and to read his books, helping to comprehend the characters I didn’t recognize. My husband asked me not to hold on to past resentments, to let them go, to be free from them, saying that now what was most important was to accept Master Ou’s teachings and guidance, opening my heart to receive the energy he granted to help us to be healthy and happy. My family’s help and support was a tremendous source of strength and encouragement.
The practice of the Pangu Shengong forms and music therapy improved my health daily. There were two big adjustments that took place during this process. The first occurred about three months after learning the practice. I had a high fever and was unable to bring it down. For five days I was unable to eat, drink or urinate, unable to get up. Despite it being the middle of summer, I was so cold I needed to be covered with a heavy quilt. Still, I insisted on not seeing a doctor nor taking any medication. I continued to listen to Master Ou’s recordings (I hadn’t yet learned the Nonmoving Form). On the fifth day I was able to walk again. My son, knowing I hadn’t eaten or drunk anything for five days, persuaded me to see a doctor. The doctor suggested I stay in the hospital but I refused, thinking that medical science had been unable to help me in the past and that it would be little more than a waste of time and money! I had already passed beyond a life and death situation before. I returned home and resumed my practices. Other than eating, I did nothing else. On the sixth day Miss Zeng and Mrs. Liang came to my home to give me Qi healings. Soon after I excreted two green been sized dark and bloodied bowel movements, followed by red and white dysentery for a month, sending me to the restroom countless times each day. Even so, I did not feel tired, and was able to eat and sleep, to shop for groceries, cook for my family and do housework. Listening to Master Ou’s recordings, reading his books and doing Pangu Shengong practice remained my first priorities.
The second major adjustment occurred on January 30, 2014, the last day of the Lunar New Year. The pain became so intense it felt as if a large rock was rolling from my head to my chest. I struggled to endure the pain until the second day of the Lunar New Year, 2014, hoping that no one in my family would know. For more than ten days, the pain continued until I vomited black blood. My family became very concerned. From previous incidents, they knew asking me to see a doctor would be useless, so my husband asked me to stay home and practice Pangu Shengong more, and to listen to Master Ou’s healing music. The adjustment continued until the 13th day of the Lunar New Year. I hadn’t seen a doctor nor taken medicine. I practiced, listened to Master Ou’s recordings, and read his books. Each day there were a few hours when I felt a great deal of pain. On the 13th day of the Lunar New year, I felt as if my head would explode. The next day, my face, lips and entire mouth turned black, especially towards the throat. My husband was very concerned but, by the 14th day, I began to feel better. Soon after, my menstrual period returned for a week, after having discontinued for a few years. It seemed death had passed me by again. I was full of hope.
Even while passing close to death twice, I did not feel afraid. I truly believed that Pangu Shengong and Master Ou’s healing music and chants could help me through these times and recover my health. I was convinced I had found the right method.
There were also two minor adjustments: In June 2012, while washing dishes, I had an unusual sensation in my throat. I spit a black bloody solid mass into the sink. In September of 2013, my knee joints swelled so painfully I couldn’t go downstairs or put on a pair of shoes. My family and neighbor asked me to see a doctor. I had been well versed in Pangu Shengong’s healing principles for two years, including practice and how to conduct one’s self. I decided it would be best to endure the pain, not to burden my family and permit them to go about their business, and continued to cook and do housework. As I worked I listened to Master Ou’s healing music and recited his poem, Inspired Expression, every day. I practiced Pangu Shengong five to six hours each day, taking no medication. To my pleasant surprise, after a week, my knees regained their range of motion and I fully recovered in a few more days.
There was one more unforgettable experience. On January 19, 2014, after attending the Foshan Ngahyin Chanting Outdoor Concert, I felt itching all over my body. That night when I took a shower I discovered that my black underclothes were covered by a layer of white particles. Soon after, I felt the skin over my whole body had been renewed; it was smooth and radiant.
In the past three years, though I took my grandson to school and did housework, I did my best to attend Master Ou’s healing therapy sessions and group discussions. I learned a great deal about Pangu Culture and was able to find answers to many questions during these group activities.
As I consider my experiences over these past years I have many thoughts and feelings. Had I not encountered Master Ou’s Pangu Shengong and healing music and chants, I am sure I would not be alive today. These gave me a second chance and a new life. Pangu Culture has provided me with wisdom, even though I have had only a year of formal schooling and was close to being illiterate. Now, I am able to read and write Chinese characters and can comprehend and analyze Master Ou’s teaching, books and articles. I have learned how better to conduct myself and understand the reasons behind my illness.
In the past I was stingy, narrow-minded and overly concerned with what I had lost. These attitudes caused my illnesses. My heart and soul were not healthy and this resulted in my body not being healthy. Master Ou’s writings encourage us to “have more love and less hate; more tolerance and less narrow-mindedness, to open our hearts and embrace everything.”
Now I present myself differently. Eating, sleeping and elimination are all normal. Between 2013 and 2014 I gained 16 lbs. I have no difficulty taking my grandson to school and doing housework. I feel very happy that I am able to contribute to my family. In March of 2014 I had an exam at Foshan No. 1 People’s Hospital. The results came back completely normal. The doctor felt no need to prescribe any medication. Before Pangu Shengong, my face, lips and skin were black and discolored; now my face has a healthy glow and my skin is smooth. Walking and standing were once difficult for me, to the point where I had to be carried. In order to learn Pangu Shengong, I had to be carried in by the arms. The miracle created through Pangu Culture has enriched my life and relieved and touched my relatives and friends.
My entire family now listens to Master Ou’s songs and chants, and practices Pangu Shengong every day. They are all healthy and happy, and live together harmoniously. Even my kindergarten aged grandson practices and has not seen a doctor since he began. Sometimes we were surprised that at such a young age he would tell us of his understanding of the lyrics. Had he not told us himself, we would have been surprised it came from such a young person.
I have encouraged more than 20 friends and relatives to learn Pangu Shengong. A child suffering from brain paralysis has almost returned to normal after his grandmother practiced for him for two years. He is now in kindergarten, intelligent and lively. The divine power that comes from Pangu Shengong is evidenced everywhere through many miraculous occurrences.
I have such deep gratitude for Master Ou and Pangu’s loving care. Master Ou took time out of his very busy schedule to give his warm regards and encouragement. I am so very thankful for the assistance from Master Ou’s healing music, other Pangu students, my relatives and friends, and for my family who supported me with no resentment! I feel thankful for my brothers and sisters, my relatives and friends who called to inquire about my condition and who offered so much encouragement.
This brought me to three wishes: The first was that all my family members would accept Pangu Shengong. The second was that I wanted to meet Master Ou. The third was that I would receive some form of public assistance to reduce my financial burdens and ease my mind so that I could fully engage in propagating Pangu Culture. After attending the Kindness and Wellness Camp in Hong Kong on October 2014, my three wishes came true. The third wish seemed unlikely in the beginning. After struggling for ten years I was happily surprised to learn that my benefits came through. After returning from Hong Kong, it was surprisingly easy for me to spread Pangu Culture. I was able to guide more than 30 people to listen to Master Ou’s healing music.
I am more determined than ever to continue to immerse myself in Pangu Culture and to remember Master Ou’s teaching: “Cultivate your heart and soul to keep them on a positive path of benevolence and kindness and be sure to conduct yourself in the same manner.” I am committed to the “Six Practices” to make my wish a reality: doing my best to propagate Pangu Culture so that more people may walk on a kind, benevolent, healthy and happy path. Master Ou’s gatherings in Hong Kong and Macau have strengthened my resolve to spread Pangu Culture. I know my literacy level is low and my understanding is shallow. Still, I will diligently and sincerely study Pangu culture, doing my best to guide people in ways that can be easily understood and accepted, using a method of “adjust accordingly, depending on each person’s level of understanding, making the best use of opportunities, situations and environments” as suggested by Master Ou. In this way, I hope to become healthier and happier.
Post Script:
On December 27th of the lunar calendar, (February 15, 2015) I was fortunate enough to be seated at the same table as Master Ou in Macau. Master Ou took the initiative to greet me, as I didn’t introduce myself initially; I felt I had been impolite. When Olivia asked me my experiences in learning Pangu Shengong, I only said that after I had learned now my whole family was regularly listening to Master Ou’s songs. I didn’t intend to mention my whole experience because I didn’t want to relate a painful and miserable past. Later, I felt regretful because of the deep love and care I received from Master Ou, Mandy and Olivia, as well as Master Ou’s expectations.
The next day I returned home. My husband asked me to celebrate the New Year in our hometown so that we could have a happy family reunion (we hadn’t been back to our hometown for Chinese New Year for many years).
On the following day, the day before Chinese New Year, our relatives and friends asked if we would return to Foshan after dinner. We replied that we would not return home for a few days. My husband told me that our brothers, sisters and uncles would visit to offer New Year’s greetings the next day. I knew they were coming to see what my condition was. Nevertheless, considering the customs of our hometown, it would be inappropriate to discuss illness on the first day of Chinese New Year. I waited until the second day to relate my experiences with Pangu Shengong. I told of my experiences from the second to the fifth day, with some of my relatives even enjoying some of Master Ou’s songs. One of the neighbors, a Buddhist, said she spent ten thousand Yuan to learn “Bi Gu,” a Qi Gong fasting and healing method where one does not eat any food, but only drinks water. Even at such a price she was not guaranteed that the method would heal her conditions. I told her that the method I learned does not offer a guarantee, either, but its results depend on how well each person masters it.
As soon as I finished speaking I reflected: “Master Ou, it is you who brought me to the path of kindness and benevolence, who taught me many Chinese characters, and taught me the principle of conduct; ‘Take kindness and benevolence as basis, take frankness and friendliness to heart.’ This principle resolved my inner conflicts and untied the knot that was in my heart for more than 30 years. I should have honestly told you in detail my experiences of learning Pangu Shengong these past four years and I should share it with more people. It is my responsibility and duty to deliver this message of ‘kindness, friendliness, love and justice,’ to help others along this healthy and happy path. This is also my core belief after accepting and being nurtured by Pangu Culture.”
Despite my limited education, I believe that as long as I continue to work hard, Pangu Culture and practice will provide me with the wisdom I need, and Master Ou will continue to be a source of guidance. As soon as I decided to write this essay, I couldn’t help but shed tears and had difficulty writing. When I recalled my experiences during the second through the fifth days of Chinese New Year, with the expressions of care and expectation in the eyes of my friends, relatives and neighbors, I became more determined to write. Even though it may be incoherent and unsystematic in places, my hope is that it will offer some inspiration. I hope that new and senior Pangu students will strengthen their resolve and read more of Master Ou’s publications. Remaining “calm, tolerant, humble and persistent” is certainly worthy of careful consideration. I believe that as long as we have love, confidence and perseverance we will be able to achieve good health and happiness.
